Once punished, criminals deserve a second chance

It was a troublesome Facebook post from a conservative talk show host at a Santa Rosa radio station. Promoting an upcoming segment, last week’s post read:

“Former KGO Radio Talk Show Host _____ _____, convicted of child pornography seven years ago, is going to be released from federal prison in time for Christmas. Where will he go? Are your children safe? Is he truly rehabilitated as he claims?” Full Opinion Piece

It’s refreshing to know that there are some individuals in our media that are more intelligent and empathetic than others. Both liberal and conservative media are guilty of instilling fear and ignorance to the public about registrants. It’s nice to know that there are some who believe registrants deserve a second chance.

Finally…a talk show host with a brain! Great read.

Once he realizes the stigma and foolishness of the registry, he would be a great voice for reform.

Great article that makes complete sense.

I used to volunteer in Prison Ministries. We would go into large/warehouse like halfway houses. Depending upon their status, individuals would be allowed to leave during the day and attend college? We had individuals with drug dealing pasts, attempted murder of a police officer and so on. This is probably going on everywhere . So , why is someone with a sexual related conviction any different? As a parent, there isn’t a day that goes by where you turn the tv on and see violence related shows, sexual related shows and so on? Many of these singers/reality show people go around half naked , perform half naked and so on? Go visit Vegas! We have had a few ex Presidents, Senators and well known Pastors with some rather sexual related pasts ? Yet , we continue to almost portray those convicted of sexual related offenses as monsters? Seriously !
